The Hurricane Harvey Blood Drive at our center on Sunday the 24th was a great success. More than 28 donations (including plasma which was in short supply) were received by the Gulf Coast Blood Regional Center that will be used all across south Texas for those in need. We sincerely thank everyone for their participation and, we are happy to know that our simple efforts will bring happiness and health to many for a long time to come.
Lone Star Buddhist Meditation Center organizes meditation classes and courses based on the discourses and earliest teachings of the Buddha. Our resident monks guide the group based on the authentic teachings of historical Buddhism. The instructions given include meditation for beginners as well as meditation for advanced practitioners. All instructions are free of charge.
It is our mission to spread the Buddha’s teachings on generosity, morality, and meditation and to improve the happiness of our members and the general public through cultivating friendship, compassion, and wisdom. The services of this organization are open to any member of the public interested in learning and practicing the Buddha’s teachings.
Introduction to Buddhism
Buddhism is a philosophy that clearly shows the Path to liberation for all. This doctrine, perfect and consistent in the beginning, in the middle and in the end, can be realized in this life itself. It does not change with time. We can invite anyone to come, investigate the doctrine and apply it to his or her life. This doctrine will direct one’s life along the right path if one applies the Teaching and disciplines one’s life accordingly. This is, therefore, the greatest doctrine in the world.
Is Buddhism a philosophy alone..?
Buddhism is a philosophy. There is truth in this term. Lord Buddha’s philosophy is the reality of the world. Since one can free himself or herself from suffering through the practice of this doctrine, Buddhism can also be called a religion.
