Welcome to Lone Star Buddhist Meditation Center

We are a Theravada Buddhist center located just outside of beautiful Tomball, Texas. Our mission is to share the teachings of The Buddha to anyone who may be interested. We do this by offering free meditation classes, Dhamma discussions, a book discussion group, and availability to talk one-on-one about any questions you might have. When visiting, or attending meetings, you will find a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, acceptance of all faiths, and an ample opportunity to learn more about yourself. We hope that by sharing the teachings of the Buddha, you will find a path toward building a more joyful and compassionate life, for yourself, and those you hold dear.

What is Buddhism

Buddhism is different than the other major world religious traditions because it is not oriented around God but oriented around human beings, Buddhism is a philosophy, what Buddha taught is that we create our own mental suffering and the path out of suffering lies with us. Buddha explained to us that dissatisfactions or mental suffering arise because of our own mental state. Buddha taught that we suffer because we crave for things, because we are focused on ego and because we assume things are permanent when they are actually temporary. We can alleviate suffering by changing our perception of ourselves and our world by recognizing that everything is temporary even ourselves. Read More >>

Meditation for Western Minds

We host a Friday Meetup Group for anyone interested in learning more about meditation practice, and how by learning a few simple techniques you may begin to unwind the stresses of daily life. We use simple meditation methods that were taught by the Buddha as a means to becoming more mindful and compassionate.

Suttas as the Buddha Taught Them

Lessons from the original teachings of the Buddha. We believe that dialog is required in order to truly learn anything, so questions and comments are always welcome.

Young Adults

This program focuses on developing the wisdom everyone needs in order to build a compassionate, fulfilled life, while acknowledging the demands, and temptations of today’s young adults.
